00SummaryThe Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) Health Services Administrator is responsible for ensuring the accessibility, quality, and continuity of agency health services.
This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
FunctionsDetermines program goals and objectives, and manages all resources and facilities for health services.
Provides technical and administrative support, including approval of purchase order requests and equipment management through the property control system and preventative maintenance.
Develops system-wide policies and procedures for the delivery of health services, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Establishes and maintains a system for program and service delivery evaluation.
Determines and implements corrective action plans.
Directs maintenance and management of inmate health service records, in accordance with policies, regulations, and applicable laws.
Responds to grievances and appeals from inmates, staff, and/or family regarding requested health services.
Coordinates with other sections in ADC in response to inmate crises, pandemic issues, continuity of inmate care, security issues, and health guidelines and requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
DimensionsEmployee may be exposed to personal injury or verbal abuse in dealing with convicted felons in the inmate population.
May serve or designate others as on-call contact for health services at all ADC units.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the principles and practices of health care administration in a correctional setting.
Knowledge of agency, community, and state health resources/programs.
Knowledge of supervisory and organizational practices and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, monitor and document staff actions and health care operations.
Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and recommend changes.
Ability to develop budgets and account for expenditures.
Ability to communicate information and ideas in verbal and written formats.
Minimum QualificationsThe formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in business or health-related field; plus five years of experience in the planning and/or the delivery of healthcare services in a correctional or healthcare facility, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
